About GSSA
GSSA is a student-led organization affiliated with the Geospatial Center at Saint Louis University. Founded in 2026, GSSA brings together students interested in geospatial science, technology, and research while strengthening connections between the SLU community and the broader St. Louis geospatial ecosystem.
Our goal is to build an active community of practice where students can learn, collaborate, exchange ideas, and grow professionally. GSSA creates opportunities for technical learning, research exchange, professional development, networking, and engagement with the wider geospatial community.
Membership is free, with no dues. All currently enrolled SLU undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to join. Faculty, staff, alumni, geospatial professionals, and students from other institutions are also welcome to participate as Affiliate Members.
GSSA is governed by its student members, who lead the organization’s activities, priorities, and decisions. The Geospatial Center and Faculty Advisor provide mentorship, institutional support, and continuity while preserving the organization’s student-led governance, including independent student voting and elections.
